Matthew D’Arcy has joined the agency as a senior communications consultant when the health service is looking to make the most of technology to help save billions of pounds and deal with the growing demands of an ageing population. The NHS is also currently witnessing a cultural change as it attempts to embrace technology in order to become paperless and give clinicians the information they need to effectively treat patients.
D’Arcy will help organisations ranging from multi-national companies to small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) develop their communications activity in order to give them the best possible chance of delivering urgently needed solutions to the frontline of healthcare.
He said: “This is an exciting time to see just how far technology can help healthcare organisations transform their services and the extent to which new tools and better access to data can help prevent the health service from becoming unaffordable.
“Today’s healthcare leaders are convinced technology offers huge potential as an enabler to empower patients, to improve care and to give clinicians the data and tools they need to save more lives.
“I very much look forward to working with Highland Marketing’s clients to help them communicate just what they can offer to help transform the health service and to support the needs of medical professionals and patients.”
Highland Marketing has established itself as a leading healthcare communications agency in the UK and is expanding to help more overseas clients.
D’Arcy joins the company after spending years working as a journalist, also bringing PR and marketing experience. He has written about issues including the digital transformation of public services, e-government, data security, defence, international development and much more.
Highland Marketing CEO Mark Venables, said: “The appointment of Matthew is further evidence of the fact that we only recruit staff of the highest calibre with a proven track record of excellence. His extensive range of experience and network of contacts will bring enormous benefit to our clients.
“Matthew will also support our current significant expansion and our continued ability to provide a full suite of marketing services, along with an unrivalled knowledge of the healthcare sector in the UK and overseas.”
