The government started publishing figures about Covid-19 deaths in care homes, as statisticians warned the UK is set to have the worst total death toll in Europe. Despite this, NHS England/Improvement issued a six week plan to get some urgent and routine services up and running again.

The NHS Confederation said the NHS should retain some of the best features of its Covid-19 response in a “reset, not just a recovery” and NHS Digital said a lot of health tech is “here to stay”, although some will have to be put on a proper legal footing after the crisis. NHSX saw its contact tracing app come under fire for its centralised architecture and the involvement of GCHQ.
