With the Budget less than two weeks away, this week’s health news was dominated by NHS funding – or the lack of it. First, the NHS Confederation organised an open letter making a “last desperate plea” to Chancellor Philip Hammond to find more money for the NHS next year. Then, NHS England chief executive Simon Stevens said the government should also start the “transition” towards the £350 million a week that the Leave campaign promised on its Brexit bus. Speaking of Brexit, the Nuffield Trust put out a report detailing just how bad a ‘no deal’ exit would be for the NHS.
