NHS70 lights at Confed18

Top policy makers and managers met at the annual NHS Confederation conference in Manchester, where NHS England chief executive Simon Stevens dropped strong hints that the NHS would get more money to mark its 70th anniversary in July, but many speakers stressed that this would not allow it to take its foot off the reform pedal. The health service was also told to start preparing now for next winter, and to use real time information systems to better manage beds and discharges. Away from the conference, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust signed a massive hardware, network and hosting contract, and Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust signed with Cerner. There will be a full report from Confed18 next week; meantime, there is a chance to re-read Highland Marketing’s recent interview with Richard Corbridge about IT at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Leeds Care Record.
