It was a relatively quiet week on the healthcare news front, but specialist publications still reported on the ongoing financial and staff crises that are affecting the NHS. Dr Simon Eccles became the second NHS chief clinical information officer. NHS England stepped up its preparations for the 70th anniversary of the NHS in July. Also in this week’s Healthcare Roundup: Highland Marketing has produced a Q&A analysis of the NHS planning guidance for 2018-19, which was issued last week. The planning guidance is a key document that sets out ‘must do’ priorities for the year ahead, and is therefore an important piece of background for anyone wanting to do healthcare IT business with commissioners and trusts.
