Legislative moves to support the drive to integrated care were noted in the Queen’s Speech, but with an election likely, it may be some time before the government’s political agenda makes such legislation a reality. The challenges facing health and social care were outlined in the CQC’s annual State of Care report, which also sounded a familiar note around the piecemeal nature of the application of technology in healthcare. This was highlighted in a report from Professor Sir Mike Richards, which said IT screening systems were woefully out of date. Meanwhile, AI is on the rise, according to a Microsoft report, although the data quality challenge is holding back progress. NHSX said it would commit to open standards after a listening event with innovators, whilst it started advertising for England’s first chief nurse for digital transformation. SilverCloud passed the 300,000 user mark, and Rob Shaw and Andy Kinnear announced plans to move on from the NHS.
