NHS England sent a ‘dear colleagues’ letter to NHS managers to encourage them to prepare early for winter. The consensus from both managers and think-tanks is that the actions outlined will be insufficient. The NHS Confederation urged the two Conservative Party leadership contenders to address the situation; and to take action on rising fuel prices to prevent “the avoidable public health catastrophe” that could be caused by cold, damp homes.
