NHS England announced that there will be a 12-week consultation on the creation of accountable care organisations, as a group of clinicians secured permission for a legal challenge to the government’s attempts to introduce them without passing new legislation in Parliament. NHS England argues ACOs are not new legal entities and will only be created to promote integrated care; but the challengers worry they will lead to privatisation. Meanwhile, two powerful Parliamentary committees announced that they would hold inquiries into the transfer of NHS data to the Home Office and the WannaCry attack last year. Away from politics, a big London hospital announced its EPR go-live plans, and there was interest in cloud services.
