Healthcare Roundup 21 June 2019

The NHS Confederation’s annual conference took place in Manchester. Health and social care secretary Matt Hancock was busy elsewhere, as the Conservative Party leadership race heated up; but think-tanks warned that whoever emerged in charge of the government would need to find more money for capital spending, public health and social care if they wanted to see the NHS Long Term Plan delivered.

Matthew Gould, the incoming chief executive of NHSX, said the new unit would survive the departure of Hancock; probably. But the Treasury is “sceptical” about putting more money into technology, and “there is a job to be done” to make the case.
