Healthcare Roundup 21 September 2018

As the first named storm of the year battered the north and Scotland, the government announced how it would be spending £145 million of additional winter funding. The money will go on 81 schemes to upgrade wards and A&E departments and help them run more efficiently. In Scotland, debate intensified about a new law that would require boards to implement safe staffing levels, with professional and organisational bodies warning that it could have unintended consequences. On the heath tech front, a number of funding schemes opened for bids, and companies started to announce they had won places on NHS England’s Health Systems Support Framework. Also, Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust successfully moved integration engine to Orion Health Rhapsody, and Oxehealth secured a world-first medical device accreditation for its vital signs software.
