The Conservative Party leadership election continued and continued to focus on Brexit; as the British Medical Association warned that a no-deal exit from the EU could be disastrous for the NHS. Incoming NHSX chief executive Matthew Gould axed a number of digital programmes by blog. The GDEs and LHCREs survive; but look set to change focus.

Also this week: politics and technology were missing from this year’s NHS Confederation conference; and that may have been the most significant thing to take away from it. Lyn Whitfield reports.
