As the country returned to work after the Christmas and New Year break, papers and media outlets discovered that the festive season had been a busy one for the NHS, and that the service in England, Scotland and Wales was on the verge of a ‘winter crisis’. A lack of social care, beds and staff were blamed; although digital services also reported that they had been exceptionally busy. In pure health tech news, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust indicated that it was going to stick with the PPM+ electronic patient record that it has been developing since 2003 for at least another three years.
