This week has been dominated by news of a long-standing error in the algorithm used to call some women for breast screening, which has led to around 450,000 women missing a final screen between the ages of 68 and 71, and 135-270 shortened lives. Health and social care secretary Jeremy Hunt announced an inquiry into the problem, which may date back a decade, on Wednesday. In more positive health tech news: Wales announced that clinicians across the country can now see test results in the Welsh clinical portal, wherever the tests were ordered; and Channel 4 News featured the work of Coordinate My Care in supporting end-of-life patients in London.
