This week NHS England and NHS Improvement set out the plans for the upcoming financial year, with a push for even greater prominence of STPs and a rebrand of accountable care systems as integrated care systems. US President Donald Trump was rebuked for saying the NHS was going broke and not working, and there were repercussions on the new Liverpool hospital following the collapse of Carillion. NHS CIO Will Smart shared the lessons to be learnt following WannaCry, and there was a stark warning from a computer science professor that the computer systems in use across the health service “were so poor that people could be dying as a result”.
